sitkalidak sunrise farm

Sitkalidak Sunrise Farm’s generational growers provide fresh produce and food sovereignty for a sustainable lifestyle in Old Harbor, Alaska.

Community unity and the tradition of subsistence are the foundation of everything we do. Through the Old Harbor Alliance we are strengthening our food security from the ground up.

All food grown on the farm is distributed at no cost, with our Tribal Elders receiving first priority each week. We believe caring for our Elders and our land are the same thing: essential for life.

High Tunnels & Hydroponics

To grow year-round in Old Harbor, we have to be innovative. Our operation includes three large high tunnels (hoop houses) and outdoor raised beds that protect our crops from the elements.

The Orchard

We recently planted 72 apple trees, along with cherries, pears, kiwis, and plums in our high tunnels. We are nurturing these young trees now so that future generations can harvest bushels of fruit right here in the village.

One of our high tunnels is entirely hydroponic, capable of holding 1,500 plants at once. This is the engine of our farm, producing the bulk of the fresh greens that go out for delivery.
